U.S. Secures Over 80M Barrels of Venezuelan Oil, Trump Says
"We just received from our new friend and partner, Venezuela, more than 80 million barrels of oil," Trump declared before Congress, adding, "American oil production is up by more than 600,000 barrels a day."
The announcement comes after U.S. forces conducted a military raid in January, seizing Maduro and transferring control of Venezuela's oil export infrastructure to Washington. Maduro, who has since faced charges of drug trafficking and additional crimes before a federal court in New York, remains in U.S. custody.
With the takeover now firmly in place, the United States has assumed direct authority over Venezuela's oil shipments — a geopolitical maneuver with far-reaching implications for global energy markets and Latin American relations. The move marks one of the most aggressive unilateral resource seizures by Washington in modern history, reshaping the balance of power in the Western Hemisphere.
